Mannheim Reaction Formula

• The overall reaction formula is as below.
• Mannheim: 2 KCl + H 2 SO 4 → 2 HCl +K 2 SO 4
• Real reactions are in two stages.
• KCl + H 2 SO 4 → KHSO 4 + HCl (I)
• KCl + KHSO 4 → K 2 SO 4 + HCl (II)
• External heating is required because the overall reaction is endothermic.
• At temperature 520 - 560 °C the Potassium chloride reacts with sulfuric acid in a sealing and negligible-negative pressure chamber, synthesizing Raw Potassium Sulfate (SOP) and HCL gas, helping by internal distributor and blender.
